Ola-owned food delivery platform Foodpanda proclaimed on Monday that it will shortly be merged within the Ola app to reach to an additional customer base of 150 million in the country. It as well claimed that it achieved a milestone of 3 lakh orders a day on the back of various recently introduced offerings.

The company said in a statement that it is also on a steadfast track to fulfill its earlier commitment to hire 60,000 delivery riders in the next couple of months.

Foodpanda's technology center, launched earlier this year, is working with the teams at Ola to seamlessly incorporate food-ordering experience on the Ola app to further boost Foodpanda's development and enable its reach to millions of untapped consumers across the country.

"The milestone that we have achieved in such a short span of time is a testament to our passion and commitment towards creating the best food experience for our customers. We have a unique strength of a customer base of 150 million, which we have been able to delight with several industries leading innovations in the past. Integration with Ola's platform will help Foodpanda leverage these assets along with our deep understanding of Indian customers, large-scale distribution and logistical & technical prowess," Commenting on the milestone, Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Ola said.

Opening with the key markets, the integration will be rolled out in the whole country in the following 1 month.

Currently, Foodpanda's standalone app is present in 150+ cities with 20,000+ restaurants on the platform.

Foodpanda recently introduced 'The Crave Party', where it offers desserts from the most loved brands at just Rs 9, snacks starting at Rs 19 and Biryani starting at Rs 79.

Ola acquired foodpanda in December 2017 with a commitment for infusion of funds to the tune of Rs 1,300 crore from Ola's parent ANI Technologies.

Last year, it disclosed plans to invest Rs 400 crore in India to scale up technology, to guarantee seamless experience for partner eating houses, users and riders across all the metros and some other key cities in the country.
