FuelCell Energy announces Connecticut layoffs!

A Danbury based fuel company is planning to cut jobs in a new restructuring plan which includes layoffs in several Connecticut locations.

The fuel company FuelCell Energy announced that, they will reduce their workforce by 96 positions, that they say is equivalent to 17% of their workforce.

A news release from FuelCell, states that, the workforce was reduced at both the North American production facility in Torrington, Connecticut, and at corporate offices in Danbury as well, with remote locations.

The President and Chief Executive Officer FuelCell Energy, Chip Bottone, said that the layoffs were a necessary move.

Chip Bottone said in a statement, that, “we are streamlining our business and cost structure as we reduce our production levels to meet the backlog we have today while positioning the Company for long term success. Our employees are our most valued assets so the decision to reduce our workforce was not made lightly.
