Meek Mill sued over Connecticut concert shootings

Hip Hop artist, Meek Mill has got into legal troubles. The Philly rapper is being accused by the families of a deadly concert shooting in Connecticut.

The deadly shooting took place in December last year at the Toyota Oakdale Theater where Meek Mill was performing on stage. In the incident four fans were shot dead and two died later, One of the victim’s family along with one injured person filed a lawsuit against Meek Mill and Oakdale claiming that the Dreamchasers rapper’s lyrics incite violence.

The family of the deceased person identified as 31-year-old Travis Ward blamed that the shooting squarely at the feet of Meek Mill and Oakdale.

According to the court documents, the family blamed that his lyrics attracted violent thugs to the concert and the owners of Oakdale are aware of that, but they still booked him for the concert.

Ward’s family argued that Oakdale should have taken the rapper’s lyrics as a warning not to book him for the show. The family is now suing Mill and the organizers for more than $15,000 in damages.

The lawsuit claims that necessary measures were not taken to control the crowd and ensure the safety of fans, citing past gun violence at Meek Mill concerts as a reason for extra security. “With song titles like ‘Body Count’ and ‘Ooh Kill ‘Em’ that praise indiscriminate killing and mayhem, the potential for tragic incidents like this should have been properly anticipated and planned for by Meek Mill, his concert promoters and the Oakdale Theatre,” attorney Joel Faxon said. The lawsuit is reportedly seeking more than $15,000 in damages. Pitchfork has reached out to Meek Mill’s representatives for comment.

Meek Mill has not reacted to the lawsuit, but you can bet that he has already lawyered up.
